How to Use A Reflector Part 2

can you put your hand more sort of flat on the tree, that's it splendid. What we're doing now is back lighting Natasha. The sun is coming from behind her, why am i doing that? because it's putting a little highlight up here on her hair, so her hairs all shiny and floaty and girly her face is in nice flat, even light so there aren't any nasty harsh shadows
and I quite like the light in the trees and going off down the stream there.

So let me take that picture, let me just dump these things down there because you wont need that in shot from here. no glaring at me Tash splendid, that'll do, and come back one, and one more for luck, splendid. It's a nice picture isn't it? absolutely fine, tashas faces in the nice smooth even sort of
light but look what happens if I try and put a bit of reflector back in there I'm just gonna put this one down because it's
just gonna blow away and i'm just gonna have to rescue it. Let's use the white card, no sun don't go in, let's be quick, if I bring in hopefully you can see from
here look on tashas face as i bring this card in look whats happening to the light, look at the sparkle that's appearing in her eyes, even though we're losing a little bit of light. hey Tash, i forgot w have to get the same shot there, right let's try again , bring in that reflector. Here we go, you should really look at the difference between the light on her face just by bringing in a little bit of reflector.

Now if i have a go with the blaster light, the big reflector, it might be a bit over powering, it's also harder to hold. Look on her face, that silver reflector is possibly too much, it's also making Nat squint, that's bright isn't it Nat? very bright indeed, look at that. Let's just take one because it'll give you, you're really giving me a slitty look in that one, but that's cool overdone over reflecting, we're losing stuff across the park, hang on, here we go, we don't want to litter do we. You could if you had someone to help you possibly use a reflector like this but do it from a bit further away Jayne if you just put the camera on tasha and let's scoop some light up from over here.

See that's probably a bit more subtle, its probably still a bit too much but look how it makes her eyes sparkle, absolutely brilliant. i really like this little composition just here, I like the ivy going on, i like the little view down the river, which is sort of softly out of focus it's a very very pleasant little country side image. But you can still use your reflector to bring it to life, let me show you what i mean, i'm gonna pop up the silver side so if i push in a bit of light from here coming in from over there, bouncing it back in they look a bit as if they're just being lit up by torch but if I just take a few paces back
around this way scoop up some of this light and push it up in this direction so it's just a bit coming in from behind
a bit something like that you can just see it on the leaves it's given a bit more texture, it's kinda back lighting the leaves a bit, and if i flip the reflector over and scoop up a bit of light and it's gone gold it's really bringing that green to life as well as just kinda giving it a texture so you can use a
reflector in a still life as well as a portrait
