How to do 360° Product Photography I Amateur vs Professional

Meet Adam and Mike. Adam is an amateur photographer who wants to sell new toys online Mike is a professional retailer, who is selling lots of toys on his online shopping platform. To make a 360-degree photo presentation, Adam will use his kitchen turning plate, which allows to take photos from every angle. Adam needs to make sure the toy is exactly in the middle of the rotating table. For background setup, he’s using a kitchen chair and a sheet of white fabric. He’s carefully cleaning the product to remove all the dust and fingerprints. The next step is setting up the tripod and the camera. AUTO settings will do the job. Adam needs to make sure the object is in the frame in every required position. To reach this goal, Adam is changing the camera position from horizontal to vertical. He’s also moving the camera upwards to get a better view on the object.

When everything is ready, he can start taking pictures one by one while moving the turning table manually after every photo was taken. Now, he can upload all the photos to the computer and use one of the free platforms to stitch all the photos together and get the final result, such as a GIF picture. Mike is a coffee lover and he starts his day with a tasty cup of coffee. Mike has more products to take pictures of. Mike is using the cleaning paper to remove the dust and fingerprints from all the products he is about to photograph. Then, he places all the toys in a professional device, which allows him to work more efficiently. Laser positioning kit built in the machine helps him to place the object exactly in the middle of the rotating table. Through the software, Mike has full control over the camera settings and the lights. He can also use saved presets created specifically for the toy collection.

In software, Mike can choose the amount of pictures for his 360 degree presentation and control the lights, the turning table and the camera. It’s all happening while Mike is enjoying his favourite coffee. The software is removing background from images automatically. When all pictures are taken, Mike can see the final result. If needed, he can change the image background color and upload everything straight to his ecommerce platform. Which workflow works better for e-commerce? Let us know in the comments!.
