Ep 7. How to Stop Squinting and Blinking in a Photograph – Family Portrait

Sometimes people's eyes are very sensitive to light so when you're shooting outdoors, you
have to be very careful I guess, when you position the person. If you find you've got no choice but to
put them with the lights facing into the eyes because your shoot have started at
a different time of the day than when you ideally like it to shoot, to start. What I tend to do is to say to the
families, "Close your eyes, everybody close your eyes and when I
count to three, then open your eyes". I'll say the word,
'open', everybody opens their eyes at that time and I will take a couple of shots immediately. It's to help people from blinking, just to you know, just to relax their eyes for a moment and that seems to work for me.
